FAQ'S
Not sure about what to expect? Or what to wear? Here are some frequently asked questions!
q) what can i expect from a session?
a) Sessions are very laid back and one of the main goals is to have fun! I like to get to know you, so i love to talk about your family. I strive to
capture connections, so the more you interact and pretend that i am not even there the better! We will do a mixture of posed and candid photographs. I
typically feel out the kids and let them ‘run the show’ or at least feel like they are! There is never any need to direct kids to look at me or force a
smile, the more natural, the more real the images. We can discuss and plan some things out prior so that we have a little direction with the session and are
prepared. I want the images to be exactly what you are about!
If i come to your home, expect to take me on a little tour. We may need to move things around a bit in order to utilize the best possible lighting. But
don’t stress about making your home spotless. Your home is who you are and what you are about, so getting that all in the photographs just helps tell more of
your story.
q) my kids aren’t really good at listening or sitting still, should i wait to photograph them?
a) ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! I hear this all too often. And being a mom, I can completely understand this concern. It is a lot of work to plan outfits, pick a
time that doesn’t interfere with naps, meals, etc and then on top of that expect your kids to behave and smile on cue…well, that all just doesn’t sound that fun!
I do my best to take the pressure off of everyone and often pull the kids away for a bit (it is amazing how well they will listen to me when their parents
aren’t right there) and photograph just them. I don’t necessarily go for perfect, posed, smiley kids…but rather genuine expressions and emotions that are
true to them. I promise you that you will never be disappointed you had your photos done. i do my best to make the sessions fun + relaxed so it is an
awesome experience for everyone!
q) I have no idea what everyone should wear, can you help!
a) Yes! in my opinion…I think the best way to dress with with fun, bright colors and a few accents. don’t all dress the same or try to be overly
match…mixing patterns can actually look awesome in photos. and throwing in headbands, scarves, ties, etc. all really adds to the images. One tip I do have
though…please don’t have huge logos or cartoon characters on anything; they are very distracting and take away from the photos. Don’t hesitate to contact me if
you have more questions, because I would love to help!
q) Do you have a studio? or where do we go for pictures?
a) Nope. No studio and no plan for a studio as of now. I love photographing families in natural lighting. it is much more flattering than artificial lighting. As far as locations, well there are an endless amount of possibilities: your home, parks, downtown, fields, unique buildings, etc. this is one of those things we can discuss prior so that the location is a good fit for your family and what you are looking for. I am ALWAYS open to ideas and new spots, so don’t hesitate to mention any if you have something specific in mind.
q) Do you offer gift certificates?
a) yes! i sell gift certificates year round that can be for a specific session or a dollar amount.
q) What do we receive after the session and how do we get our pictures?
a) After each session, I upload your images and look through them all. I narrow them down to the absolute best images (number depends on length of
session) and edit each image individually. I then provide you with a disk or flash drive with all images varying in color and black + white. From that point
on, you own the rights to the images and can print where you would like!
q) how far in advance do i need to book?
a) Ideally, the earlier the better. I typically book 1-2 months in advance;
q) What type of payment do you take and when do i pay?
a) I accept cash, check. Payment is due prior to or at the time of the session.
